Day 01

Arrive Chennai

Arrival at airport and transfer to hotel.

Afternoon half day sightseeing tour touching Fort St. George, San Thomas Cathedral and the museums that contain the world's most complete and impressive selection of Chola bronzes and stone sculptures from South India and the Deccan.

Day 02

Chennai - Mahabalipuram

Breakfast, City sight seeing of Chennai, drive to Mahabalipuram (65 kms / 2 hrs). Built in the 7th century, this ancient city is said to be a sculptor's delight, boasting of some of India's most sublime rock-cut art, for which it is now a World Heritage site. Sightseeing covering Shore Temple, Arjuna's Penance & Five Rathas.

Day 03

Mahapalipuram - Tanjore

After breakfast drive to Tanjore (300 kms / 6hrs). Upon arrival a visit to Brihadewswara Temple also known as the 'Big Temple', built by the Chola dynasty. This massive temple is 216 feet high and the single spherical stone on top weighs 80 tons.

Day 04

Tanjore – Trichy - Tanjore

After breakfast excursion to Trichy visiting Srirangam temple & Rockfort, Trichy's most famous landmark, which has a temple perched on the outcrop of Rock.

Day 05

Tanjore - Madurai

Breakfast, drive to Madurai, (200 kms / 4 hrs). Visit to Meenakshi Sundareshwar, one of the largest temple complexes in India built between the 16th and 18th centuries. It is estimated that 33 million sculptures are there

Day 06

Madurai - Periyar

Breakfast, drive to Periyar (142 km 3hrs), visit Periyar National park, boat ride. Set on an attractive lakeside, it is South India's most popular Wildlife Sanctuary. Late afternoon at 1500 hrs we shall take you to a guided Spice and plantation tour in one of the Spice Gardens / Plantations for which this region is famous.

Day 07

Periyar - Kumarakom

After breakfast drive to Kumarakom (135 kms / 4 hrs).

Kumarakom backwaters, the cluster of little islands on the Vembanand Lake. Backwaters cruise on the leisure boat at the Kumarakom is surely the most enchanting experience of the lifetime. Emerald palms and coconut trees on either side of the boat mesmerizes you with its immense beauty. Furthermore Vembanad Lake is home to several types of marine life exclusively the Karimeen (Pearl Spotted Fish), Chemeen (Prawns) & Konju (Tiger Prawns).

Later we visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary. There are two seasons for birds: between October & February there are cormorants, teals, & other ducks & from February to July there are darters (snake birds), night herons, egrets, & Siberian storks. It also has golden backed woodpecker, crow pheasant, white-breasted water hen, tree pie etc.

Day 08

Kumarakom - Alleppey

After Breakfast drive to Alleppey ( 51 km 1 h), board houseboat on backwaters, lunch, dinner.

Day 09

Alleppey - Cochin

Breakfast, disembark from vessel, drive to Cochin (63 km 1 h),

Afternoon visit Dutch Palace (Built by the Portuguese), Jew Town, the 1568 Jewish Synagogue, spice market, where the air is filled with the pungent smell of spices, St. Francis' Church and Chinese fishing nets. The evening holds a show of Kerala's most popular classical dance.

Day 10

Cochin - Depart

After breakfast transfer to Airport, departure by flight.
